Today I am reading chapter 16 in the Adventure section of the book Start From Zero.
The goal of this book is to build the brain of an entrepreneur, one that can create meaningful businesses and income streams from nothing.
BECOME A NEWBIE
Chapter 16: The become a newbie is a small chapter.
The meta-pattern for being a newbie looks like this:
- Find an industry.
- Find their biggest challenges.
- Find an expert that knows how to solve it.
- Bring the two together.
- Charge money for value-added.
- Give that value for free to the experts providing it.
OUTCOME THINKING VS. PROCESS THINKING
Chapter 17:
How can I ever start a business if I work a job?
Vs
I know it’s possible to start a business. I want one, and I’ll figure out a way.
Think about the outcome you want for the current projects you are working on. Start cutting away things that don’t align and build in the things that do.
INCOME HAPPINESS
Chapter 18:
Income happiness is money you don’t have to work for. You can call it passive income, but a more accurate term is asset-based income.
You want assets that produce income with little on-going work. And it isn’t lazy; it’s just smart to do. That’s how you get wealthy and stay income happy.
An asset can be simple. It could be a single-page website selling background music for video editors, for example —something like below.

Focus on the customer and the end result they want, not on the mechanism like how you can fulfil the solution.
Every dollar you make is not equal.

Make it simple. Ask questions. Understand the pain. Find an expert who can have an answer or solution, partner with them, create a solution, go to the marketplace where your potential customers hang out and present them with a simple offer.
