Step 3: Create Your Data-Backed Messaging and Creative Brand (or Rebrand)
Your brand should be markedly different from your competition’s and based on connecting with your customers and clients.
Your Brand Isn’t Built on 1-Sided Wins
Stop sending business proposals where you win first. If you want to build a great brand and sell your products or services, you have to earn trust, build a relationship, and forge a partnership.
When the other side wins first—and only then—do you win. If you try to skip steps, you’re just going to come off as a shallow person out for your own gain. Plus, it’s just a better way to live your life. Give first.
Every element of your brand is built on cultivating relationships, and relationships aren’t about 1-sided wins.
Take your time and build them the right way. That lasts a lifetime. Focus on what the customer wants and needs. Follow the same steps you would with any other relationship in your life, and do it in the order I discuss in this book.
